NGC 1980
NGC 1980 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Orion. It is situated near the famous Orion Nebula and is part of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The cluster contains several bright stars, which are relatively young and have formed from the surrounding gas and dust.
Discovered by William Herschel in 1786, NGC 1980 is estimated to be around 1,500 light-years away from Earth. The cluster is notable for its prominent blue stars, which are typically hotter and more massive than older stars. Observations of NGC 1980 contribute to our understanding of stellar formation and evolution.
