NGC 128
NGC 128 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Eridanus. It is approximately 70 million light-years away from Earth and is part of the Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database. NGC 128 is notable for its bright core and well-defined spiral arms, which are characteristic features of barred spiral galaxies.
Discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1834, NGC 128 has a visual magnitude of about 13.5, making it a faint object that requires a telescope to observe. The galaxy is also a member of the Hercules Cluster, which contains several other galaxies and is of interest to astronomers studying galaxy formation and evolution.
