NCA
The National Credit Act (NCA) is a South African law enacted in 2005 to promote responsible lending and borrowing. It aims to protect consumers from over-indebtedness and ensure fair treatment in the credit market. The NCA regulates credit providers and requires them to conduct affordability assessments before granting loans.
Under the NCA, consumers have the right to access information about their credit agreements and to dispute unfair practices. The Act also established the National Credit Regulator (NCR), which oversees compliance and enforces regulations to maintain a fair credit environment for all parties involved.
