NASA's Apollo program was a series of space missions aimed at landing humans on the Moon and bringing them safely back to Earth. Launched in the 1960s, it was a response to the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union. The most famous mission, Apollo 11, took place in 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the lunar surface.
The program included a total of six successful Moon landings, with Apollo 17 being the last in 1972. The Apollo program not only advanced our understanding of space but also inspired generations to explore science and technology.
