NAMES Project
The NAMES Project is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987, best known for creating the AIDS Memorial Quilt. This quilt serves as a powerful tribute to individuals who have died from AIDS, with each panel representing a person lost to the disease. The project aims to raise awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS and to promote education and prevention efforts.
The NAMES Project also focuses on advocacy and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS. Through community outreach and educational programs, the organization seeks to reduce stigma and encourage compassion for individuals living with the virus. The quilt continues to be displayed at various events, fostering remembrance and understanding.
