Myrmica
Myrmica is a genus of ants commonly known as red ants or field ants. They are typically found in temperate regions and are characterized by their small size and reddish-brown coloration. These ants often build their nests in soil, under stones, or in rotting wood, and they are known for their aggressive behavior when defending their colonies.
Myrmica ants play an important role in their ecosystems by aerating the soil and helping with seed dispersal. They are also known to form mutualistic relationships with certain plants and other insects, such as aphids, which they protect in exchange for honeydew.
