Muskrat Falls
Muskrat Falls is a hydroelectric power station located on the Churchill River in Labrador, Canada. It is part of the Lower Churchill Project, which aims to harness the river's energy to generate electricity. The facility has a capacity of 824 megawatts and is designed to provide renewable energy to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond.
Construction of Muskrat Falls began in 2012 and was completed in 2020. The project includes a dam, a reservoir, and transmission lines to deliver electricity. It is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil fuel generation with clean hydroelectric power.
