Muscogee
The term "Muscogee" refers to a Native American people originally from the southeastern United States, particularly in areas that are now part of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional crafts, music, and dance. The Muscogee people speak the Muscogee language, which is part of the Muskogean language family.
The Muscogee Nation, a federally recognized tribe, has its headquarters in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. This tribe was formed after the forced removal of the Muscogee people during the Trail of Tears in the 1830s. Today, the Muscogee Nation works to preserve its culture and provide services to its members, including education and healthcare.
