Mulatu Astatke
Mulatu Astatke is an Ethiopian musician and composer, widely recognized as the father of Ethio-jazz, a genre that blends traditional Ethiopian music with jazz elements. Born in 1943 in Jimma, Ethiopia, he studied music in the United States, where he developed his unique sound that incorporates various instruments, including the vibraphone and traditional Ethiopian instruments.
Astatke's work gained international acclaim, especially in the 1970s, when he released several influential albums.
