Mozambique spitting cobra
The Mozambique spitting cobra (Naja mossambica) is a venomous snake found in southeastern Africa, particularly in Mozambique, Tanzania, and South Africa. It is known for its ability to spit venom, which it can accurately project up to 3 meters (10 feet) to defend itself. This species typically has a slender body and can grow to about 1.5 to 2.5 meters (5 to 8 feet) in length.
The venom of the Mozambique spitting cobra is neurotoxic, affecting the nervous system and potentially causing paralysis. Its diet mainly consists of small mammals, birds, and amphibians. This snake is often found in a variety of habitats, including savannas, forests, and near human settlements, making it an adaptable species.
