Mountain nyala
The Mountain nyala is a large, endemic antelope found only in the highlands of Ethiopia. It is characterized by its long, spiral horns, which can reach up to 90 centimeters in males, and its striking coat, which is dark brown with white stripes and spots. This species primarily inhabits montane forests and grasslands, where it feeds on leaves, grasses, and shrubs.
Mountain nyalas are social animals, often seen in small groups, and they play a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to maintain vegetation balance. Due to habitat loss and hunting, their population is currently classified as endangered, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
