Mountain Tapir
The Mountain Tapir is a unique species of tapir found primarily in the high-altitude regions of the Andes mountains in South America. It is characterized by its thick, woolly fur, which helps it adapt to cold environments. Mountain tapirs are herbivores, primarily feeding on leaves, fruits, and grasses.
These animals are relatively small compared to other tapir species, weighing between 220 to 330 pounds. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal. Unfortunately, the mountain tapir is currently classified as endangered due to habitat loss and hunting pressures.
