Mountain Anoa
The Mountain Anoa, also known as the Bubalus quarlesi, is a small, endangered species of wild buffalo found only on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. It typically inhabits mountainous forests and is known for its compact size, with adults weighing between 150 to 300 pounds. The Mountain Anoa has a dark brown to black coat and short, curved horns.
This species is primarily herbivorous, feeding on grasses, leaves, and shrubs. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the Mountain Anoa is classified as endangered by the IUCN Red List. Conservation efforts are underway to protect its remaining populations and habitat in the wild.
