Mount Tyree
Mount Tyree is the second-highest peak in Antarctica, standing at 4,852 meters (15,919 feet) above sea level. It is located in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, which is known for its rugged terrain and extreme weather conditions. The mountain was first climbed in 1967 by a team of American mountaineers.
The mountain is named after the American geologist William Tyree, who contributed to the study of the region. Mount Tyree is often overshadowed by its taller neighbor, Mount Vinson, but it remains a significant destination for climbers and researchers interested in the Antarctic environment.
