Mount Pinatubo
Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano located on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. It is part of the Zambales Mountain Range and stands at approximately 1,486 meters (4,878 feet) tall. The volcano is known for its major eruption in June 1991, which was one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the 20th century.
The eruption of Mount Pinatubo released massive amounts of ash and gases into the atmosphere, significantly affecting global climate for a short period. The event led to the evacuation of thousands of residents and caused widespread destruction, but it also provided valuable scientific insights into volcanic activity and its environmental impacts.
