Mount Pelée
Mount Pelée is a volcano located on the northern coast of Martinique, an island in the Caribbean. It is known for its explosive eruptions, particularly the catastrophic event in 1902 that destroyed the nearby city of Saint-Pierre and resulted in thousands of fatalities. The volcano stands at 1,397 meters (4,583 feet) tall and is part of the Lesser Antilles volcanic arc.
