Morris Island Lighthouse
The Morris Island Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located off the coast of Morris Island in South Carolina. Built in 1876, it stands at 161 feet tall and is known for its distinctive black and white striped pattern. The lighthouse was constructed to guide ships safely through the dangerous waters of the Charleston Harbor.
Over the years, erosion and shifting sands have caused the lighthouse to become increasingly isolated from the shore. Today, it is surrounded by water and is no longer operational. The lighthouse is a popular subject for photography and is a symbol of maritime history in the region.
