Montauk Lighthouse
The Montauk Lighthouse is located at the eastern tip of Long Island, New York. Built in 1796, it is the oldest lighthouse in New York State and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2012. The lighthouse stands 110 feet tall and has a distinctive black and white striped pattern, making it a recognizable symbol of the area.
The lighthouse was constructed to guide ships safely through the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and has been in continuous operation since its completion. Visitors can explore the surrounding park, which offers scenic views of the coastline and access to the nearby Montauk Point State Park.
