Montane Grasslands
Montane grasslands are high-altitude ecosystems found in mountainous regions, typically above the tree line but below the snow line. These areas are characterized by open, grassy landscapes with few trees, and they often experience cooler temperatures and strong winds. The vegetation is adapted to the harsh conditions, featuring grasses, herbs, and some shrubs that can withstand drought and frost.
These grasslands support a variety of wildlife, including grazing animals like mountain goats and deer, as well as numerous bird species. They play a crucial role in the environment by preventing soil erosion and maintaining water quality in nearby streams and rivers.
