Monophysites
The term "Monophysites" refers to a group of Christians who believe that, in the person of Jesus Christ, there is only one divine nature, as opposed to two distinct natures (divine and human). This belief emerged in the early centuries of Christianity, particularly in response to the Council of Chalcedon in 451 AD, which affirmed the dual nature of Christ.
Monophysitism was primarily associated with the Coptic Orthodox Church and other Eastern Christian traditions. The followers of this belief often faced significant opposition from those who adhered to the Chalcedonian definition, leading to theological disputes and divisions within the early Christian community.
