Monarch Butterfly
The Monarch Butterfly is a large, colorful butterfly known for its striking orange and black wings. It belongs to the family Nymphalidae and is found primarily in North America. Monarchs are famous for their long migrations, traveling thousands of miles from their breeding grounds in the United States and Canada to wintering sites in central Mexico.
These butterflies primarily feed on nectar from flowers, particularly those in the milkweed family, which is also the host plant for their larvae. Monarchs undergo a complete metamorphosis, starting as eggs, then becoming caterpillars, pupae, and finally emerging as adult butterflies.
