Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq
Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq was a prominent religious and political leader in Kashmir. He served as the Mirwaiz, or spiritual leader, of the Kashmiri Muslims, a position that has significant historical and cultural importance in the region. Born in 1963, he was known for advocating for peace and dialogue in the context of the ongoing conflict in Kashmir.
Farooq was also the head of the Awami Action Committee, a political organization that aimed to address the concerns of the Kashmiri people. His leadership was marked by efforts to promote unity among different communities and to seek a peaceful resolution to the issues facing Kashmir.
