Minyan
A Minyan is a quorum of ten Jewish adults required for certain religious obligations, particularly for communal prayers. Traditionally, this group consists of at least ten men, but in more progressive communities, women may also be included. The Minyan is essential for reciting specific prayers, such as the Kaddish, which honors the deceased.
The concept of a Minyan emphasizes the importance of community in Jewish worship. It fosters a sense of belonging and collective spirituality, allowing individuals to participate in rituals that strengthen their faith. The gathering can take place in various settings, including synagogues and homes, reflecting the adaptability of Jewish practices.
