Minor Pectoral
The minor pectoral muscle, also known as the pectoralis minor, is a thin, triangular muscle located beneath the larger pectoralis major in the chest. It originates from the third, fourth, and fifth ribs and attaches to the coracoid process of the scapula. This muscle plays a role in stabilizing the shoulder and assisting in movements such as pulling the shoulder forward and downward.
In addition to its functional importance, the minor pectoral is involved in respiratory mechanics by helping to elevate the ribs during deep inhalation. It is innervated by the medial pectoral nerve, which is crucial for its contraction and overall function in upper body movements.
