Minamoto no Yoriie
Minamoto no Yoriie was a prominent Japanese military leader during the late 12th century. He was born in 1182 and became the second shōgun of the Kamakura shogunate at a young age, following his father's death. Yoriie played a crucial role in the Genpei War, which was a conflict between the Minamoto and Taira clans, ultimately leading to the establishment of the shogunate.
Despite his early successes, Yoriie's reign was marked by political struggles. In 1203, he was deposed by his own family members and spent the rest of his life in exile. Yoriie's legacy remains significant in Japanese history, symbolizing the rise of samurai power and the complexities of feudal politics.
