Millicent Fawcett
Millicent Fawcett (1847-1929) was a prominent British suffragist and a key figure in the women's rights movement. She is best known for her leadership of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), which advocated for women's right to vote through peaceful and constitutional means. Fawcett believed in the power of reasoned argument and public persuasion to achieve social change.
Fawcett's efforts contributed significantly to the eventual passage of the Representation of the People Act 1918, which granted voting rights to women over the age of 30 in the United Kingdom. Her legacy continues to inspire modern movements for gender equality and women's rights around the world.
