Military-Industrial Complex
The term "Military-Industrial Complex" refers to the relationship between a country's military, its government, and the defense industry. This concept suggests that these entities work together to promote policies that benefit military spending and defense contracts, often leading to increased military budgets and influence over national policy.
The phrase was popularized by Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, in his farewell address in 1961. He warned that the growing power of the military and defense contractors could pose a risk to democratic processes and lead to unnecessary military engagements.
