Milia
Milia are small, white cysts that commonly appear on the skin, particularly on the face, especially around the eyes and cheeks. They occur when keratin, a protein found in skin, hair, and nails, becomes trapped beneath the surface. Milia can affect people of all ages, but they are most often seen in newborns, where they are sometimes referred to as "milk spots."
These cysts are usually harmless and do not require treatment, as they often resolve on their own over time. However, if desired, they can be removed by a dermatologist using a sterile needle or other methods. Milia are different from acne and are not caused by clogged pores.
