Mikimoto Kōkichi
Mikimoto Kōkichi (1858–1954) was a Japanese entrepreneur best known for creating the first cultured pearls. He founded the Mikimoto Pearl Company in 1893, revolutionizing the pearl industry by developing techniques to cultivate pearls in oysters. His innovations made pearls more accessible and affordable, changing the way they were perceived in fashion and jewelry.
Kōkichi's work earned him international recognition, and he received numerous awards for his contributions to the industry.
