Midterm Election
A Midterm Election is a type of election held in the United States halfway through a president's four-year term. During these elections, voters choose members of the U.S. Congress, including all 435 members of the House of Representatives and about one-third of the 100 members of the Senate. Midterm elections can significantly impact the balance of power in Congress.
In addition to congressional races, many states also hold elections for governors, state legislators, and local offices during the midterms. These elections often serve as a referendum on the sitting president's policies and can influence future legislative agendas.
