Midnighter is a fictional superhero appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gail Simone and artist Dustin Nguyen, he first appeared in Stormwatch #4 in 1998. Known for his superhuman abilities, including enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes, Midnighter is also a skilled martial artist with a unique ability to predict his opponents' moves in combat. Midnighter is often associated with the Authority, a team of superheroes that operates outside traditional superhero norms. He is notable for his dark, brooding personality and his relationship with Apollo, another member of the Authority. Together, they represent one of the first openly gay couples in mainstream comics.
