Microscopic Polyangiitis
Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) is a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of small blood vessels, leading to damage in various organs. It primarily affects the kidneys, lungs, and skin, and can result in symptoms such as kidney failure, respiratory issues, and skin rashes. MPA is often associated with the presence of specific antibodies known as anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA).
Diagnosis typically involves blood tests, imaging studies, and sometimes a biopsy of affected tissues. Treatment usually includes medications to suppress the immune system, such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants. Early detection and management are crucial to prevent serious complications and improve outcomes for patients with MPA.
