Michelle Alexander
Michelle Alexander is an American author, lawyer, and civil rights advocate best known for her book, *The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness*. In this influential work, she argues that the U.S. criminal justice system functions as a contemporary system of racial control, disproportionately affecting African Americans and other minorities.
In addition to her writing, Alexander has worked as a professor at Ohio State University and has served as the director of the Racial Justice Project at the American Civil Liberties Union. Her advocacy focuses on issues related to mass incarceration, racial inequality, and social justice.
