MiFID
The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) is a European Union regulation that aims to create a unified framework for financial markets. It enhances transparency, increases competition, and protects investors by setting standards for investment services and activities across EU member states.
MiFID was first implemented in 2007 and has undergone revisions, with MiFID II coming into effect in 2018. This updated version introduced stricter rules on trading practices, reporting requirements, and the provision of investment advice, ensuring that financial markets operate fairly and efficiently while safeguarding investor interests.
