MetroStars
The MetroStars, originally known as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, were a professional soccer team based in the New York City metropolitan area. Founded in 1994, they were one of the ten charter teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). The team played its home games at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey and was known for its passionate fan base.
In 2006, the MetroStars rebranded as the New York Red Bulls after being acquired by the energy drink company. The rebranding marked a new era for the team, which has since achieved greater success in MLS, including winning the Supporters' Shield in 2013.
