Meteosat
Meteosat is a series of weather satellites operated by EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites. These satellites are positioned in geostationary orbit, allowing them to continuously monitor weather patterns over Europe and Africa. They provide real-time data on cloud cover, temperature, and atmospheric conditions, which is essential for weather forecasting and climate research.
The first Meteosat satellite was launched in 1977, and since then, several generations have been deployed. Each new satellite features advanced technology to improve image resolution and data accuracy. This information is crucial for meteorologists and scientists to predict severe weather events and understand climate change.
