Messier 22
Messier 22 is a globular cluster located in the constellation Sagittarius. It is one of the brightest and largest globular clusters visible from Earth, approximately 10,000 light-years away. Messier 22 contains hundreds of thousands of stars, many of which are older and cooler than the Sun.
Discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, Messier 22 is notable for its dense core and rich population of stars. It is classified as a type I globular cluster, indicating a high concentration of stars near its center. Observations of Messier 22 provide valuable insights into the formation and evolution of star clusters.
