Mendut
Mendut is a Buddhist temple located in Central Java, Indonesia, near the city of Magelang. Built in the 9th century, it is known for its impressive architecture and large stone sculptures, including a significant statue of Buddha seated in a meditation pose. The temple is part of a larger cultural heritage that includes the nearby Borobudur temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The temple features intricate carvings that depict various scenes from Buddhist teachings and mythology. Mendut serves as an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, especially during the Waisak festival, which celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddha.
