Meitei Religion
The Meitei Religion is the traditional belief system of the Meitei people, primarily found in the state of Manipur, India. It encompasses a rich tapestry of rituals, festivals, and deities, with a strong emphasis on nature and ancestral worship. Central to this faith is the reverence for the Umang Lai, or the spirits of the forest, which are believed to protect the community and its environment.
The religion also includes the worship of various gods and goddesses, such as Pakhangba, the supreme deity, and Leimarel Sidabi, the goddess of fertility. Festivals like Yaoshang and Lai Haraoba celebrate these deities and the cultural heritage of the Meitei people, fostering a sense of identity and community among practitioners.
