Meglenitic Vlachs
The Meglenitic Vlachs are a group of people primarily found in the region of Meglena, which spans parts of northern Greece and southern North Macedonia. They are part of the larger Vlach community, known for their unique language, Meglenitic Romanian, which is a Romance language. Historically, the Meglenitic Vlachs were pastoralists, moving with their herds between summer and winter pastures.
Culturally, the Meglenitic Vlachs maintain traditional customs, including folk music and dance, which reflect their rich heritage. They celebrate various festivals that highlight their unique identity within the broader Romanian and Balkan cultures. Despite modernization, they strive to preserve their language and traditions for future generations.
