Megamouth Shark
The Megamouth Shark is a rare species of deep-water shark known for its enormous mouth, which can open up to 4 feet wide. Discovered in 1976, it is part of the Lamniformes order and primarily feeds on plankton, small fish, and jellyfish by filtering them from the water.
This shark can grow up to 18 feet long and has a distinctive dark gray or black coloration. Unlike many other sharks, the Megamouth Shark is not a threat to humans and is often found in deep ocean waters, making sightings infrequent and valuable to researchers.
