Mediumwave
Mediumwave refers to a segment of the radio frequency spectrum that typically ranges from 530 to 1700 kilohertz (kHz). It is primarily used for AM (Amplitude Modulation) broadcasting, allowing radio stations to transmit audio content over long distances, especially during nighttime when atmospheric conditions enhance signal propagation.
Mediumwave signals can travel further than higher frequency signals due to their ability to reflect off the ionosphere. This characteristic makes them suitable for regional and national broadcasts. Many countries have established regulations for mediumwave broadcasting to ensure efficient use of the spectrum and to minimize interference between stations.
