Medicare program
The Medicare program is a federal health insurance initiative in the United States designed primarily for individuals aged 65 and older. It also covers certain younger people with disabilities and those with specific medical conditions. Medicare helps pay for various healthcare services, including hospital stays, doctor visits, and prescription medications.
Medicare consists of different parts: Part A covers hospital insurance, while Part B focuses on medical insurance. Part C, known as Medicare Advantage, offers an alternative way to receive Medicare benefits through private insurance plans. Part D provides prescription drug coverage, helping beneficiaries manage their medication costs.
