Mediastinal Tumors
Mediastinal tumors are abnormal growths that occur in the mediastinum, the area in the chest between the lungs. This region contains vital structures such as the heart, trachea, esophagus, and major blood vessels. Tumors can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) and may arise from various tissues, including lymphatic tissue, nerves, or connective tissue.
Symptoms of mediastinal tumors can vary widely and may include chest pain, cough, difficulty breathing, or unexplained weight loss. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like CT scans or MRI, and treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy, depending on the tumor type and stage.
