Meadowlark
The meadowlark is a medium-sized songbird belonging to the family Icteridae. Known for its bright yellow underparts and distinctive black "V" on its chest, it is commonly found in open fields, grasslands, and meadows across North America. There are two main species: the Eastern Meadowlark and the Western Meadowlark, both recognized for their melodious songs.
Meadowlarks primarily feed on insects and seeds, making them important for controlling pest populations. They build their nests on the ground, often hidden among grasses to protect their eggs from predators. Their cheerful songs are a familiar sound in rural areas, contributing to the natural ambiance of the landscape.
