Matthias (Apostle)
Matthias was one of the twelve apostles chosen to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ. After the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, Matthias was selected by the remaining apostles to replace him. This selection was made through prayer and the casting of lots, as described in the Book of Acts in the New Testament.
Matthias is often recognized for his commitment to the early Christian community. Although little is known about his life and ministry after his selection, he is traditionally believed to have preached in various regions, including Judea and Ethiopia, and is honored as a martyr in some Christian traditions.
