Matchstick
A matchstick is a small, slender piece of wood or cardboard that is used to create fire. It typically has a combustible tip coated with chemicals that ignite when struck against a rough surface. Matchsticks are commonly found in matchboxes and are used for lighting candles, stoves, and fireplaces.
The invention of the matchstick dates back to the early 19th century, with the first friction matches created by John Walker. Today, matchsticks come in various sizes and types, including safety matches, which can only be ignited on specific surfaces, enhancing user safety.
