Match Play
Match Play is a format used in various sports, most commonly in golf and tennis. In this format, two players or teams compete against each other, with the goal of winning individual holes or sets rather than accumulating a total score. Each hole or set is won by the player or team that performs better, and the overall winner is the one who wins the most holes or sets.
In golf, for example, a player wins a hole by completing it in fewer strokes than their opponent. If a player is ahead by more holes than there are remaining to play, the match ends early. This format emphasizes head-to-head competition and strategy, making it distinct from stroke play, where the total score is the primary focus.
