Marple Locks
Marple Locks is a series of 16 locks located on the Peak Forest Canal in Marple, England. These locks are notable for their impressive height difference, allowing boats to navigate the steep terrain between the Peak District and the River Mersey. The locks were completed in 1804 and are a key feature of the canal system.
The Marple Locks are a popular spot for both boaters and walkers, offering scenic views and a glimpse into the region's industrial history. The area is also home to the Marple Aqueduct, which carries the canal over the River Goyt, further enhancing its historical significance.
