Marmolada Glacier
The Marmolada Glacier is the largest glacier in the Dolomites, a mountain range in northern Italy. It covers an area of about 3.5 square kilometers and is situated on the Marmolada mountain, which is often referred to as the "Queen of the Dolomites." The glacier is a popular destination for skiing and mountaineering, attracting outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
Due to climate change, the Marmolada Glacier has been shrinking significantly over the past few decades. Scientists estimate that it has lost around 50% of its mass since the 1950s. This decline raises concerns about the future of glaciers in the region and their impact on local ecosystems and water supply.
